ALUS Canada wins 2019 national Nonprofit Employer of Choice™ Award

Now in its fifth year, the Nonprofit Employer of Choice™ (NEOC) Awards program honoured ALUS Canada among 12 organizations from across Canada, for our outstanding commitment to support a happy and highly engaged workforce in 2019.

The Award was presented to ALUS in February 2020 by CCEOC Inc. (Corporate Culture and Employee of Choice), a Toronto-based leader in establishing best workplace programs, and their creative partner The Hilborn Group.

The Nonprofit Employer of Choice Award recognizes Canadian charitable organizations that have committed themselves to better business management practices, organizations whose people, leadership and vision translate into exemplary talent -management practices, supporting successful mission delivery in the communities they serve.

“ALUS Canada prides itself as being an innovative, positive, virtual working space,” said ALUS CEO Bryan Gilvesy. “We provide everyone on the ALUS team opportunities for career development, support for ongoing learning, and the freedom to pursue outside passions and to express one’s authentic self. We are honoured to be recognized as an Employer of Choice.”

The Award measures a nonprofit’s leadership attributes, HR practices and employee opinions. All winners successfully completed the NEOC Organizational Profile and Employee Commitment Survey achieving a minimum overall score of 75% to qualify for the award.

“We’re very pleased with the variety of organizations that participated this year,” said Jeff Doran, president of CCEOC Inc. “All of the winning nonprofits showed strong leadership qualities, particularly in the areas of employee engagement and personal enjoyment.”

The NEOC program also provides a framework to identify an organization’s talent-management issues and build a corrective plan of action. Supporting partners of the NEOC Award program include Canadahelps.org and the Sustainability Network.
