The 2018 ALUS Canada Producer Innovation Award

Congratulations to Joe Csoff, ALUS Norfolk participant and PAC member, for receiving the 2018 ALUS Canada Producer Innovation Award

“I’m very appreciative to be chosen for this award. I’m glad to be thought of as making a difference,” said Joe Csoff, recipient of the 2018 ALUS Canada Producer Innovation Award. “When it comes to the environment, everyone’s got to try to do their part. For my part, I’ve helped to get more people to do the right thing. I’m happy to be the key to get that motor started.” (Photo: Splash Photography)

On June 6, 2018, ALUS Canada and The W. Garfield Weston Foundation presented two Innovation Awards during a special event at Y.U. Ranch in Tillsonburg, Ontario.

The ALUS Canada Producer Innovation Award recognizes participating farmers and ranchers who are excellent stewards of the land and who have done innovative work in producing ecological services on their farms through the ALUS program.

This year, ALUS Canada’s CEO Bryan Gilvesy presented the ALUS Canada Producer Innovation Award to Joe Csoff, who has been involved with the ALUS Norfolk program since its inception in 2008, first as a participant, then also as a PAC member, farmer liaison, teacher and mentor.

“Over his many years of dedication to ALUS Norfolk, Joe has had an immense impact on the development of the ALUS program across Canada,” said Gilvesy, “and he has also provided an outstanding degree of mentorship to many new ALUS communities.”

As a farmer, Joe supports farming as a way of life but also supports finding a balance between agriculture and conservation. As an ALUS participant, the ALUS projects on Joe’s property in Otterville, Ontario, provide excellent examples for others to follow.

“I’m very appreciative to be chosen for this award. I’m glad to be thought of as making a difference,” said Csoff. “When it comes to the environment, everyone’s got to try to do their part.
