TORONTO, October 13, 2016 – ALUS Canada was honoured with a Clean50 Award and named to the more exclusive “Clean16” category at the Clean50 Summit in Toronto on September 22.

According to Clean50 creator Gavin Pitchford, ALUS Canada earned a Clean16 spot for its innovative approach to creating new markets for grassroots conservation. “The 2017 Clean16 are truly the leaders of the leaders in sustainability in Canada,” said Pitchford, CEO of Delta Management Group.

ALUS Canada’s Executive Director Bryan Gilvesy and Director of Strategic Initiatives Lara Ellis accepted the award on behalf of the four ALUS Canada staffers named to the Clean16, including Eastern Hub Manager Dave Reid and Director of Operations Lynn Bishop.

“I’m thrilled that, not just one, but four ALUS Canada staffers received the Clean16 award this year,” said Gilvesy. “It’s a recognition of our strong leadership in the field of sustainability, and our expertise across diverse fields: biology, conservation, market development and program delivery on the ground,”

“We are immensely proud of the work ALUS Canada is doing as part of the new clean economy, supporting both economic growth and environmental outcomes,” added Lara Ellis.

More than 100 people, including the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and a wide range of Ontario’s clean technology firms and corporate social responsibility professionals, gathered at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club on Toronto Island for the conference, a day-long symposium on sustainability sponsored by the TD Bank and culminating with a gala presentation of the annual Clean50 awards.

Other Clean50 winners included Université Laval, 3M Canada, Smart Prosperity and General Mills.
