Today, ALUS is pleased to announce the hiring of Karen Snethun in the position of Associate Hub Manager.

As Associate Hub Manager, Karen will support ALUS Coordinators delivering its program in Canada’s west. She will also support the work of ALUS Hub Managers across the country.

“Karen’s experience will strengthen the support that ALUS provides our communities, growing our network’s capacity to produce ecosystem services and to meet the needs of the producers who deliver them,” said Bryan Gilvesy, ALUS Canada’s CEO.

Hailing from Central Alberta, Karen has spent her career in the province’s agriculture sector holding positions with Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada, Serecon Management Consulting and Organic Alberta.  She has experience with non-profits, particularly in the development of the organic grain sector where she applied her skills in a leadership role with the Prairie Organic Grain Initiative.

“ALUS has seen tremendous growth in Western Canada in recent years,” said Christine Campbell, Senior Hub Manager. “Karen’s expertise will afford us the capacity to robustly support and cultivate our network of ALUS communities in the West, helping ALUS make a meaningful impact on the ecosystem services and natural infrastructure that our communities need to thrive.”

By applying her experience and skills to ALUS Canada, Karen wishes to make an impact on the program in Western Canada, fostering support of the environmental and economic needs of producers in the region.

“Building the resiliency and profitability of the Canadian farmers is priority,” said Karen. “I am excited to be part the ALUS team in their support of farmers and ranchers to provide ecosystem services that contribute to that end.”

Karen obtained her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSc) with a specialty in Agricultural Economics. Karen is based in Clive, Alberta.
