Joshua Wise (Ontario Nature) speaks to 2014 tour participants.

Join ALUS Norfolk for our 10th Annual Environmental Stewardship Tour! The tour will visit four unique ALUS participant farms in Norfolk County, where speakers will share their knowledge on the process of environmental restoration on marginal farmland and the benefits of establishing environmental services on the farm.

This year’s sites include tours of:

  • An oak savannah and sand dune restoration
  • one-year-old created wetlands and tall grass prairie
  • Enhanced wetlands
  • Established Tall Grass Prairie (planted in 2011)

Registration and lunch will be held at ALUS participant farm the Burning Kiln Winery, with lunch catered by David’s Restaurant.

Each site will include a chance to hear about the project from the landowner or restoration specialist, and an opportunity to walk around the project. Buses are provided for transportation between tour sites.

This tour is offered with the generous support of Scotiabank and Allan’s Excavating.
